Cabin Kits…Tiny Homes…..Prefab Cabins….What’s the difference?

Ahh Yes that’s what I want, a cabin on the lake. Sounds easy, but where do I start? Nowadays there are tons of options for that “cabin on the lake” So I thought we should go through them one by one so that we can better understand the options and find the one that is right for your needs and mine.

The Cabin Kit sounds like what it is. You order a cabin and it comes to you in pieces for you to assemble yourself if you’re handy or someone else you hire to assemble it for you. There are a few great advantages to a kit. The best advantage is that it is about 30-50% cheaper then a pre fabricated cabin and much easier to ship. Also with it in a kit form you can choose to leave out, modify, and change as you go what ever you wanted in the kit. Cabin Kits are probably the cheapest option for larger model homes. So if you wanted an even better deal on a 1200 sq. ft. cabin then a kit form would be the best choice.

Like all the other “cabin” choices listed above you have lots of great options you can add or subtract at will. I can’t think of any disadvantage to a cabin kit accept if you are not able to put it together yourself and don’t know of a good company to hire to put it together for you then it might get more expensive then a pre-fabricated already made and delivered. So make sure that you check out building companies before you purchase one to work out the cost of assembling the kit.
We have the best quality teams available through www.greengardenchicken.com who can design the cabin of your dreams and deliver, install and build it with extreme quality and precision. I recommend contacting our team from the beginning to patiently work through all the details you want for your cabin kit. We do have financing options available as well to help you in this decision if you need it. Here are a few of my favorites:

What is a Tiny Home? Good Question. I tiny home is not just a closet sized house it is so much more. These special houses are built on a trailer frame of the highest quality to build a house in all respects on it up to 399 sq. ft. These often are 1 ½ story homes with all the conveniences of a regular home smartly travel sized for your convenience and pleasure.
So what is the difference between a tiny home and a regular RV trailer? A Tiny Home is built with wood frame and heavy duty house style construction, RV’s are not. They also have the option of a second floor, sidings, roofs and more. A great advantage to a tiny home is that as long as it is under 400 sq. ft. it is a tax free home. Our builders here at www.greengardenchicken.com have even devised a way to make the trailer completely hidden so that you can put it on a foundation just like a regular home. These are fully self contained with thousands of options available. This is the best option for someone needing only 399 sq ft of living space. A tiny house does qualify for financing and we even can refer you to a great financing branch. Take a look here at some of our models:

Pre-fabricated Cabins are fantastic. These are just as customizable as the other options above. You can work closely with a member of our team to design the perfect floor plan for your pre-made cabin. Most of these come with two options. You can pay for just the “shell” or you can get the cabin turn key ready with electrical, insulation, and more. These come fully assembled so when they arrive you need to have the foundation ready. They can be set on any foundation such as slab, post, basement, etc. Most pre-made cabins are not very big, but if you are wanting something bigger, but want a pre made cabin you can always put your cabin on a basement foundation or buy 2 that you intend to put together. This leads me to another option I did not mention, custom Cabins.

Custom Cabins
Custom Cabins are completely built at your designated site. This allows for any size or style that you can dream up with out any limitations of delivery. These will be built by our amazing build team or one of your choice. These of course are financable and your personal bank would probably give you the best rate, so I would start there. Here are some custom cabins and pre fab cabins:

  2. Hey Green, quite an operation and product you have going there. Wish there was your equal a bit closer to me; southern california ;-) I been attempting to judge whether to buy a lot on which the cabin spot would be dead over a small creek that would have to run directly underneath the cabin (!!) My guess has been that it is doable, just using a pier-on-footing (gravel, etc.) kind of foundation... any thoughts on that? And any thoughts on cost to deliver a Turn-Key, ready to go cabin (500 miles free is great; but it's 2050 total, about...). Thanks, Joe

  3. Well you can get the Turn Key Cabin in Kit form to save you a bit on cost. It would only be $3 per mile instead of $9 per mile as a pre built model. Having the house over a river is quite a challenge to keep the foundation from moving, but it isn't impossible. Good luck with that.
